One of the best and most effective choices to address muscle pain and tendon conditions is the use of radial shock wave therapy. This is where an acoustic pressure pulse is applied to the injured tissue to initiate repair. Over the short term, it can reduce pain and over the long term, it can promote blood circulation and activate and accelerate the body’s healing processes.

This technology uses a handpiece in which compressed air accelerates an internal projectile that strikes a fixed applicator to create kinetic energy. This kinetic energy gets converted into a shock wave that is transmitted through the skin and addresses the injury in the targeted area.
A shock wave therapy session is usually just a few minutes long, so it can be coupled with other therapies within the same session as recommended by your health care professional. The Swiss DolorClast® Shock Wave protocol usually takes three to four sessions, planned at a rate of one session per week.
